# Codexgram Terms of Service

**Testing draft — not effective terms.** Bracketed fields and the proposed legal allocations require confirmation before publication. Prepared 12 September 2026 for the current testing release.

Effective date: [EFFECTIVE DATE]

## 1. About these terms

These Terms of Service govern your use of the Codexgram application and its related social features (the “Service”), operated by [OPERATOR LEGAL NAME], [ENTITY TYPE AND REGISTRATION JURISDICTION], at [REGISTERED / BUSINESS ADDRESS] (“we,” “us,” or “our”).

By selecting a sign-in or sign-up option that clearly presents these Terms and states that continuing constitutes agreement, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not continue to create an account or use the Service. The published Terms will be available at [TERMS URL].

Our separate Privacy Policy at [PRIVACY POLICY URL] explains how personal information is handled. These Terms do not replace that policy or constitute consent to unrelated uses of personal information.

## 2. Eligibility and testing access

Codexgram is currently provided for testing. You must be at least [MINIMUM AGE], meet [MINOR / GUARDIAN POLICY, IF APPLICABLE], and have the legal capacity or authorization required to agree to these Terms. Testing is offered in [PERMITTED TESTING COUNTRIES / TERRITORIES], subject to [TESTER ELIGIBILITY / ACCESS CONDITIONS].

The presence of a sign-in button does not verify your age or eligibility. You must also be eligible to use the Google or Apple account you select for sign-in.

## 3. Accounts

You sign in or sign up through Google or Apple using Clerk authentication. You then choose a unique username and a display name. You may edit your profile and add a profile photo, bio, website and location. A provider-supplied name or picture may be used to help set up your profile. Usernames and profile details are not identity verification.

Use an account you are authorized to access. Keep your sign-in credentials and devices secure, and do not impersonate another person or attempt to access someone else's account. Contact [SUPPORT EMAIL] if you believe your Codexgram account has been compromised. Authentication availability and recovery also depend on your sign-in provider.

You can sign out in Settings. Signing out or uninstalling the app does not delete your account or server-stored content. Section 10 explains account deletion.

## 4. What the Service provides

You can publish a single photo or short video with an optional caption, share photo stories, explore posts and profiles, follow members, like posts and comments, write comments, bookmark posts, and exchange one-to-one text messages with other real members. Bookmark state is saved, but a browsable Saved posts gallery is not currently available.

Home shows your posts and posts from accounts you follow, generally newest first. Explore makes other members' posts discoverable. Search and topic filters may show matches only within loaded posts; suggestions are not verification or endorsement of a member or their content.

**Visibility.** Profiles, posts, comments, follower/following lists and active stories are available to signed-in members. Following changes what appears in Home; it does not make content private. Stories are available to members beyond your followers. There are no private-account, blocking or follow-approval controls in the current release. Other real members may start a text conversation with you without following you first.

**Messages.** Access to real conversations through the app is restricted to their participants. Messages are stored on the Service's backend and are not end-to-end encrypted. Current real messaging is text-only. Calls, group messaging, live online status, recipient read receipts, individual message editing, unsending and individual message deletion are not provided.

**Stories and drafts.** Photo stories expire 24 hours after publication and are scheduled for deletion. This is not a guarantee that all copies cease to exist at that moment. Keep your own originals. Unfinished uploads, drafts and unsent messages are not a backup service and may be lost when you leave a screen, end a session or close the app.

**Demo content.** The testing experience includes fictional profiles and sample posts, likes, comments and follows. Their activity and counts are not evidence of real users or endorsements. Fictional profiles cannot receive real messages. Local demo conversations, including sample photos, online indicators and read indicators, are simulations; your additions remain local for that session and are not sent to the depicted person. Product-preview images may show these simulations and controls that do not provide live features.

## 5. Upload and text limits

The current release accepts one photo or video per post. Photo posts and stories may be up to 10 MiB. Video posts must be MP4 or MOV, at most 30 seconds long and up to 50 MiB. Profile photos selected in the app must be JPG or PNG and up to 5 MiB. Post and story photos support JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC and HEIF, subject to device and format validation. The app labels these size limits “MB”; here one MiB means 1,048,576 bytes.

Post captions may contain up to 2,200 characters; comments and real messages must contain 1–2,000 characters after trimming. The story API accepts a caption up to 280 characters, although the current app does not offer story captions. Text limits use the application's string-length counting, which can count some displayed symbols as more than one character.

Usernames must contain 3–30 letters, numbers, dots or underscores and are stored in lowercase. Display names may contain up to 60 characters, bios up to 150, and websites and locations up to 200 each. A website must begin with http:// or https://.

Uploads are validated for size, supported format and metadata; video duration is also checked. Unpublished upload sessions expire after one hour. Invalid, incomplete or expired uploads cannot be published. These checks are not a guarantee that uploaded content is safe, lawful or accurate.

## 6. Responsible use

Use the Service lawfully and respect other people's rights. In particular:

- Share only content you own or have permission to use, including any required rights in music, photos, videos and people's likenesses.
- Do not post or send unlawful content, threats, harassment, exploitative material, deceptive impersonation or content that violates another person's privacy or intellectual property rights.
- Do not submit malware or deliberately interfere with the Service's security or operation.
- Do not bypass authentication, ownership checks or upload restrictions, or attempt to read, change or remove another person's data without authorization.
- Do not use messages or social interactions for spam or abusive repeated contact.

These are rules for your conduct, not a representation that the Service automatically screens content or offers an in-app moderation, reporting or appeals system. The current release does not provide those systems. Content or legal complaints may be directed to [LEGAL / CONTENT COMPLAINT EMAIL].

## 7. Your content and permission to operate the Service

You retain the rights you hold in the photos, videos, profile information, captions, comments and messages you submit (“Your Content”). These Terms do not transfer ownership of Your Content to us.

You grant us a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, transmit, display and perform Your Content, and to format it for display, solely as needed to provide the features you use. This includes showing member-visible content to other members, delivering messages to their participants, and enabling the app's sharing and interaction features. We may permit our hosting and service providers to perform those operations on our behalf to the extent necessary to provide the Service.

This permission does not authorize us to sell Your Content, use it in unrelated advertising, or train AI models on it. Those uses would require a separate lawful basis and any necessary permission. Local demo content that is not uploaded does not require a server-hosting license merely because you use the demo.

The operational license ends for content removed from the Service when the applicable deletion process is complete, except to the extent storage or handling remains necessary to comply with applicable law. [CONFIRM PROVIDER AGREEMENTS AND RETENTION POLICY BEFORE ADOPTING THIS LICENSE.] This does not promise to erase copies other people have made or material you chose to share outside Codexgram.

The share feature can send a post author's username, caption and app link to a destination selected by the sharing member. The linked post's media still requires app authentication. A bookmark is a reference to a post, not an independent archival copy. If a post is deleted, its comments and other associated interactions can be deleted with it, including content submitted by others.

Other members retain their rights in their content. Being able to view, like, bookmark or share an app link does not give you ownership of that content or a general right to reuse it outside the Service.

## 8. Service intellectual property and third parties

The Service's software, design and branding belong to their respective rights holders. Subject to these Terms, you may use the Service's available functionality. Any separately applicable open-source licenses continue to govern the code they cover; these Terms do not revoke rights granted under those licenses.

Clerk provides authentication and session infrastructure, Google and Apple provide the sign-in options you choose, and Convex provides application data and media infrastructure. Their outages or account restrictions may affect access to Codexgram. Your use of a Google or Apple account remains subject to the terms applicable to that external account. A destination you select through the device share sheet may have its own terms and privacy practices.

[REQUIRED PROVIDER-SPECIFIC END-USER TERMS, IF ANY — VERIFY THE OPERATOR'S EXECUTED CLERK, CONVEX AND DISTRIBUTION AGREEMENTS BEFORE PUBLICATION.] Provider contracts are not automatically incorporated in full into these Terms, and do not automatically impose the operator's infrastructure fees on you.

## 9. Charges

[WORKING ASSUMPTION TO CONFIRM: THE CURRENT TESTING RELEASE IS PROVIDED WITHOUT A CODEXGRAM ACCESS FEE.] There are no paid plans, subscriptions, in-app purchases or payment collection features in this release. These Terms do not authorize recurring charges or future purchases. Your own internet or mobile provider may charge for connectivity under your agreement with it.

## 10. Stopping use and deleting content or an account

You may stop using the Service at any time. You can delete your own posts, stories and comments using their available controls. Deleting a post removes its media and starts removal of related comments, likes and bookmarks. You cannot independently delete another person's comment; removing your entire post also removes its associated comments. Replacing an uploaded profile photo removes the old uploaded photo from active storage.

To delete your account, choose **Settings → Delete Account** and confirm. This requests deletion of your Codexgram sign-in account and associated application data. It does not delete your Google or Apple account. Accepted deletion requests cannot currently be cancelled through the app.

**Account deletion removes your profile, posts, photos, videos, stories, comments, likes, bookmarks and follows, and deletes your entire conversations for both participants, including messages the other participant sent.** Copies outside the Service are not recalled. This operation cannot be undone through the app.

Deletion is processed in stages. Normal account use is restricted after the request is accepted. The Service first requests deletion of your Clerk sign-in identity, then removes associated app data in background batches. Processing can continue after you sign out or close the app. Content may remain visible to other members until cleanup removes it. If identity deletion fails, app data is not removed at that stage, and the app can offer a retry. Missing configuration or service failures can delay or prevent completion; contact [SUPPORT EMAIL] if needed.

A limited deletion record remains, including an authentication identifier, the deleted profile's identifier and processing status/metadata, to prevent reuse of an old authentication token to recreate the account. This record is not anonymous. [RETENTION POLICY FOR DELETION RECORDS AND BACKUPS]. Deletion is not a promise of instant removal from backups, external copies or records that applicable law requires to be retained.

[OPERATOR ENFORCEMENT POLICY, NOTICE AND REVIEW PROCESS — IF ADOPTED]. The current app does not provide an administrator suspension or appeals workflow. A service-wide outage, external authentication restriction or pending deletion may prevent access; that does not establish a discretionary account-ban procedure under these Terms.

Rights and obligations that by their nature concern prior use or an unresolved dispute continue to apply after you stop using the Service. This does not extend the content license beyond section 7.

## 11. Service availability and warranties

[PROPOSED WARRANTY POSITION — CONFIRM FOR THE OPERATOR, AUDIENCE AND APPLICABLE LAW.] To the extent permitted by law, the testing Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or noninfringement. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation, recovery of drafts, preservation of every item of content, or the accuracy or lawfulness of other members' content.

Nothing in these Terms excludes mandatory warranties, statutory consumer remedies, or responsibilities that applicable law does not permit us to exclude. Testing status does not waive those rights.

## 12. Liability

[PROPOSED LIABILITY POSITION — CONFIRM BEFORE PUBLICATION.] To the extent permitted by applicable law, neither party is liable to the other under these Terms for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when the agreement was made. To that same extent, our liability excludes indirect or consequential business losses, including lost business profits, arising from use of this testing Service.

Subject to the exceptions below, our total liability arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms is limited to [LIABILITY CAP, CURRENCY AND AGGREGATION PERIOD]. This placeholder does not establish a zero-liability cap for a free service.

These limitations do not apply to fraud, intentional misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability or remedy that applicable law does not permit to be limited or excluded. Mandatory consumer and data-protection rights remain unaffected.

## 13. Changes to these Terms

Any revised Terms will identify their effective date and be published at [TERMS URL]. Material changes will be communicated through [CHANGE-NOTICE METHOD AND NOTICE PERIOD]. Where agreement to a change is required, it will be obtained using [ASSENT / REACCEPTANCE METHOD]. Changes will apply prospectively, subject to applicable law; merely uploading a revised document does not establish acceptance where notice or consent is required.

If you do not agree to a proposed change, you may stop using the Service and request account deletion. These Terms do not authorize retroactive fees or a new use of Your Content unrelated to the operational license above.

## 14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by [GOVERNING LAW]. Disputes may be brought before [COURTS / VENUE], subject to any mandatory right you have to use the courts or consumer protections of your place of residence. Nothing here displaces mandatory consumer protections that apply to you.

You may contact [LEGAL / CONTENT COMPLAINT EMAIL] to discuss a dispute. This does not require you to delay seeking a legal remedy. These Terms do not impose arbitration, a class-action waiver or a shortened deadline for bringing a claim.

If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law, without depriving you of mandatory rights.

## Reviewer notes — not part of the proposed agreement

The owner confirmed testing-only use and requested placeholders. No-charge access is a working assumption supported by the repository, not a permanent pricing commitment. Eligibility, entity details, contacts, risk allocations, notice, retention and provider flow-through language remain unresolved. Acceptable-use and content-license language are proposed contractual provisions, not previously established agreements or automated enforcement claims.

No AI-output, subscription, auto-renewal, refund-waiver, indemnification, arbitration or class-waiver provisions were added. Missing reporting/blocking controls, legal links and acceptance records are documented in the investigation and reviewer notes. The standalone terms page does not connect the app's placeholder legal links or capture agreement.

**Have a qualified attorney review this draft, resolve every placeholder, and verify the implementation and applicable provider agreements before publication.** See the accompanying investigation, open questions and reviewer notes for the evidence and required decisions.
